The movie Stargate begins in Egypt of 1928, where an archeologist discovers a large ring
with mysterious writing on it. Its function remains a mystery until 1994, when an unconventional
Egyptologist, Dr. Daniel Jackson (James Spader), is called on to investigate. Jackson deciphers
the cryptic writing on it. He joins a military team, under the command of Colonel Jack O'Neil (Kurt Russell),
in travelling through an ancient doorway to a far-away planet, where they must liberate an enslaved people
from a powerful false god.
